Women’s Day

It’s still International Women’s Day on the other side of the world, so not too late to share these photos of some amazing women.

The first shows me with Keiko Nakao, who heads the Burmese Relief Center-Japan and who I am proud to say has been a good friend for many years, and Dr. Cynthia Maung, who runs the Mae Tao Clinic in Mae Sot, which has been providing medical assistance to refugees and migrants on the Thai-Burma border for nearly three decades.

The second shows Eid during one of our trips to Mae Sot with Keiko, at the local garbage dump that is also home to dozens of Burmese families, including many small children. Among many other things, BRC-J helps to ensure that these and many other very poor children on the border receive an education.
