Picnic

Yesterday we decided to have lunch at our favorite spot on the CMU campus. It wasn’t typical picnic fare (we ate salt fish, boiled bamboo shoots, tamarind-based chilli paste, and red sticky rice, with a few bananas for dessert), but as always, it was a very satisfying meal.

I posted this before I let anyone know that Eid had been diagnosed with breast cancer, but in the first photo, you can clearly see purple lines that had been drawn on her chest on the day she started her radiotherapy treatment.

“Loong Ling” is the name I use on this blog. It means “Uncle Monkey” in Thai. (My niece Kanya once said I looked like a monkey because of my hairy arms, so I figured it was just a matter of time before she started calling me Loong Ling, instead of Loong Jason.
